Does anyone know if I can use the 4.0 materials for PD 3.0? I bought them because I will have to take many tests in that format but am wondering if anyone thinks the material will be the same. In 4.0 PD is spread out in two books I believe.
Thank you.

Check for the NCARB references, I believe they are the same for both PD and PPP. Also, If I'm not wrong, someone here complained recently that the Kaplan 4.0 material was exactly the same as 3.1.
Check website were you purchased the material and compare the new and older books. In some cases the chapter indexes are available to view.
Most likely you can use your present material.

| Since I got both versions from the office, I can assure you that they are pretty much the same except the 4.0 version include the graphic part and a couple paragraphs for sustainable design. I am now studying the 4.0 version and will take the exam next week.

Plankton
Thanks for the reply. I ended up buying the 3.1 version too, just to be sure although I am sure that they are probably the same, as you said.
Good luck on the test. Please let me know how it goes.

Thank you.
As long as you're using PPP and SPD books. Check the transition chart. Material is the same, but shifted around.

Thank you sunshine42.
Just finished the test. The questions were everywhere
- lots of adaptive reuse - at least 15
- a couple ANSI egress
- some B141
- some urban planning - 10
- some design questions
- design style/history
- basic service
- basic design (mech)
- one buble diagram
- no CPM
- construction detail
- some suggestion to owner
I was amazed that I saw the same question that I had in the MM exam. And some of them are really really similar to my previous exams too(maybe it was a déjà vu). Anyway, I cannot tell how I was doing as usual but the kapland covered quite a lot. Most of them are easy if you already deal with them at work.
70% practice
30% knowledge
good luck to you too.

Thanks Planktton.
I am glad for your sake that you are done at least. Hopefully, you will have passed.
I will need luck because I don't deal with this stuff at work too much. All I can do is study as much as possible. At least I am learning while I am going through this process. I am reading some of AHPP and Graphic Standards as well as Kaplan. Hopefully, that will be enough. (As well as ftp and hopefully the New Urbanism book, skim at least and Suburban Nation).
Thanks again for posting how it went.

I just received my pass letter today. I am amazed that it only takes 3 weeks to get the result this time.
Thank you guys.
God bless you all.
