The AIA D101 states that the architectural area of the building includes mezzanine as full.
IBC states that the mezzanine shall not contribute to either building area or story.
which one is correct?
Thanks!

i have a question about Mezzanines too. There's a question on it on the ARE 3.1 sample questions, #23, where it says the mezzanine is too large and I didn't know why. But, if according to IBC it can't exceed 1/3, then that makes sense.

which one is correct? They're both correct. Be careful mixing the purpose of documents & definitions.

Don't use the IBC guidlines to calculate area's for the purpose of estimating, etc. with the AIA docs. Also, don't use the AIA D101 guideline for the purpose of your code research.
. . . I think that's what coach said as well.
