I am taking the test tomorrow, so I can't say for sure until I get a pass letter, but in my studying, I have found that taking all the other multiple choice tests first was a great help. I found a lot of the material that was covered for this exam was a review of those other topics along with some site planning that I focused a little more on for this. I used the kaplan pre design book and quiz book, the flash cards and the ballast book. I also read the kaplan history book and took those tests. Reviewing the notes from my studies on the other exams helped freshen up on some terms and concepts. A good review of the entire ballast book might be helpful and not just the chapters for this exam.
Hope it helps.

I did not use the aph. I probably should have. Graphic standards would probably help too. I used that in previous tests.
I found the test to be similar to the others in terms that when I left, I have no idea if I passed. There were a lot of questions that I guess were based on the information that I studied, but it was so indirect it is hard to see where they came from. I had a lot of CD stuff on my exams. A lot of whose responsibility is it questions. I found my work experience helped me more on those questions than the study material. I also had quite a few history questions, not preservation, just about certain buildings and architects.
I certainly don't think it was as easy as a lot of people are posting, but it wasn't one of the more difficult ones either. I think if you are diligent with your studies and cover all the material, you should pass.

| I believe we should start a campaign for an extension of the ARE 3 series. Due to the current economy, firms are firing IDP candidates. My firm is struggling under the current pressure, we are working & marketing for jobs non-stop. Study time is not going to happen. It is very damned-if-you -do damned if you don't. Study now, and lose your job--Don't study now, and delay licensure. This deadline, as the world falls around us is crazy. Campaign with letters to NCARB!

yes ags is good for historic preservation stuff, but your right it's hard to know what the right stuff to study for this exam, I am focusing on the items I failed from the last exam, and breifly skim over the areas I did well, my source this time is AHPP, FLASHCARDS, a series of practice exams PD AND CD and the this forum. I am looking to ace this one this time. Good luck on your exams.

Yeah it's really a shame how they are screwing us with this change over to the new a.r.e 4.0 I am taking my last 3 and I have till june 09 to ace them. So it is really alot of pressure on me, I am not cool with this , but there might be a good side and fource to to really put in the study time to get this damn testing over with, I have been at this a,r,e test way to long , and I just want to be done with it. Funny I recieved my prometric letter the other day, and it shows I have till 2079 to complete this last 3 exam, but on my ncarb test score letter it shows I have 3yrs plus to complete my exams (roll over period) , and now i my be force to swich over to the 4.0 series next year. This whole thing is driving me crazy!!!! How do we start this campaign?
