I finally took PD on Saturday. This was my first Saturday exam and I was a bit worried because I thought the place would be especially busy because it was a weekend, but it was the calmest I have seen it.
Anyway, my experience was quite similar to others who have reported here recently. My biggest surprise I would have to say is that I didn't feel like I had any WTF questions. All of the questions at least made sense to me. The answers may have been a different story however.....
So, I studied Kaplan (old version), Ballast, flashcards, forum, AHPP 14th edition (I would recommend studying 13th edition), FTP stuff, and some of my CD notes. When I finished the exam I had about 25 questions marked. I went back and reviewed those and had about 15 minutes left. I deliberately took my time on all questions since I figured time was not an issue on this exam.
Several historic preservation/adaptive reuse questions. Some sustainability. Few history. Several specifically on the AIA contract documents. If you studied and passed CD recently, these shouldn't be too tough. A couple of specific ADA questions. Most were more general questions that applied theories and concepts rather than details. I was surprised on my one calculation question that was more complicated than I've experienced in other exams. It wasn't that hard, just more so than I've seen before.
I studied a lot for this one (my last, I want to do it once and be done!) and I think that might be why I didn't feel that I had any WTF questions. Either that or I just got lucky!
Anyway, good luck all, I'm patiently waiting for my results...

I studied about 50 hours for PD. But I have already taken CD, and that background from CD was useful for PD. I think you just have to be consistent and persistent in your studying. Read, read, read until you feel comfortable. I thought most questions were more general in nature, so my advice is don't get bogged down by too many details or trying to memorize specifics.
Good luck!

I received your other message to take CD before PD. Do I gain adventage if PD is done before CD?
I want to take PD first because of the transition 4.0 version. I want to secure the credit for passed graphic exams.

sofy, not sure I'm understanding your question here. If you have to take either PD or CD in version 4.0, you are taking one exam with multiple choice and graphics. So it looks like there isn't much advantage to either in the transition. http://www.ncarb.org/are/40/transition_chart.html
You really have to decide for yourself what you are most comfortable with and what your best approach is. As many others have expressed on the forum, PD tends to be more comprehensive, so that is why many take it last. Do what feels most right to you. Just make sure to spend the time to be prepared!

sure, thanks. i'm still on 3.1 tests. I'm not sure if I will finish up all tests before July next year, so I look up the transition chart and decide which to take next.
It's nice to know your comments and approachs, thank you!

Will it be questions of ME in PD? I had took all but ME, and some people said that there are ME questions... What do you think?
You said the questions are not about details (memorize), is this test similar to CD that the questions are about situations (if this happen, what you have to do)?
Good luck in your results!

In my opinion ME is not critical for PD. While it would probably be helpful, I wouldn't worry about it too much if you haven't taken ME. I don't recall any specific questions that I would call ME questions on the PD exam.
Good question about the details, and maybe I should clarify. It seems like there were a lot of areas in the study materials that were specific. Like the flashcards included specific buildings and architects. I didn't experience anything that specific on my exam. However, the AIA documents you should know well and who does what, but it may not be worth your time to remember how many days the owner has to review a payment request, etc. Hope that helps.
Good Luck!
