Hi! New poster, gearing up for ARE. Just passed LEED two weeks ago, finished IDP, and am waiting for ATT from my state board. I expect to get it on about Sept 30, so I'm starting to study now so I can knock out the tests as quickly as possible. I've read a lot of the posts here, and I think I have my plan of attack put together - any thoughts to offer, especially on test order/amount of time to prepare?
I originally thought I'd study for ALL before even starting (way back in Jan) but that hasn't happened. I want to take one about every month - take a week off after to regroup, then a couple weeks to study, one final major study weekend, then a few days off before testing on Wed. That worked really well for the LEED.
I'm most worried about MEP, given my experience to date. I also think I can ace the structures with some good studying as that was a strong suit in school.
1. Con Docs/Services [Oct 15]
2. Bldg Sys [Nov 19]
3. Bldg Dsgn & Const Sys [Dec 17]
4. Structural [Jan 21]
5. Site Planning/Dsgn [Feb 18]
6. SD [Mar 18]
7. PPP [APR 15]
Key choices were CDS first as I think I can do well and it will be a good intro, then Systems because most likely to fail that one, then BDCS (MM) because also worried about that one - although I may feel more secure after I start studying. Ending with PPP because heard it was a good ender/catch all.
4 weeks between each except 5 weeks before MEP (reasons above) and 5 weeks before structural because of the holidays.
Any feedback? I have the Archiflash, Ballast, and some random Kaplan pieces, all from 3.1. Plan on getting Dorf's Solutions, as well as contracts and graphic standards from office. Been downloading like mad from the Forum FTP site. Have MEEB sitting under my monitor glaring at me every day.
Thanks, look forward to "studying" with you all!

| Sounds like a good schedule. You can always start to study while you are waiting for your ATT. NCARB isn't exactly prompt with the ATTs, so your schedule may start later than you are thinking.

Definitely studying now! I requested transmittal from NCARB about a month ago. My state board only meets a few times a year, next meeting is 9/16, so I plan to make calls to NCARB to ensure the record gets there by then. State board says they send out ATT within 2 weeks of meeting, so as long as NCARB pulls through, I'll be fine. Otherwise, have to wait until November

Woohoo! Just checked NCARB record page and I see this:
Status: IDP Record transmitted to registration board, NCARB requirements met
So I think I'll be all set for the 9/16 state board meeting, 9/30 ATT. May call state board to double check receipt.

6. SD [Mar 18] SD doesn't need a month. In fact, I believe too much prep time on graphics is counterproductive. 7. PPP [APR 15] Whatever order you use, the best part is that you're hitting it.
