For those interested, the CO Chapter of the USGBC now has a Beta version of the new study guide and practice exam available through their web site at: http://chapters.usgbc.org/***/leed.html

The final version, including sections on LEED-EB and LEED-CI, is expected to be out around the end of January.

If the link above appears as "http://chapters.usgbc.org/***/leed.html", then you will need to replace the three asterisks with the word "c-o-l-o-r-a-d-o" (sans the dashes), as the ARE Forum system seems to automatically eliminate the name of that US state whenever it appears in the body of a posting.

Best of luck with the exam!

Thanks for the heads up. I went and ordered the material since it was all of a whopping $39.00, plus they offer to send updates for free when finalized.

I guess I'll have to take this blasted thing this spring.

Anybody ever ask why the Forum does that with C.olorado?

Got the goods in the mail. It's "purty" and full of exam questions. Now to get the reference guide.

Can anyone that has purchased the Study Guide on the Colo. USGBC website  give me a short review on whether it is helpful... I don't mind putting up the money for it, I just want to make sure that it is actually helpful.  Studying for this thing is pretty overwhelming.  I have read the whole Reference Guide, but from the posts I am reading that is definitely not enough... Thanks in advance...

I'm new the LEED stuff, but the C.olorado Guide has 73 practice questions, which definitely are helpful. Also, it provides an overview and summarization of what is tested. For the price, it beats the cheesy NCARB study guides.

When did you order the 2.2 Reference Guide? I tried to get it today and it was backordered.

Thank you for your answer.  I will probably go ahead and get it, like you said, it is not that expensive anyways.  My boss actually got the Reference Guide before the 2.2 test even came out....sometime last Sept. or Oct. You should be able to go ahead and order it which would give you immediate access at least to the online version possibly?  I know you don't want to sit at your computer to read all 400 pages, but you could at least get started that way maybe?  Just a suggestion...Thanks again and good luck!

I also used the colo practice exam for 2.1.  I also believed that it was helpful as it was close to the actual exam in difficulty and it prepared me in how to analyze and each approach question.  There were other information that the reference guide did not provide.  For the few dollars, I believe it was worth it.

I am in a study group in Miami.  I recently decided to take the plunge and be the first of our group to take 2.2.  I had thoroughly reviewed the reference guide and felt well prepared.

I received a score of 168.

I agree with some of Thun's recommendations from another thread on LEED in ARE on what to focus on, however, I have not been able to find information on two major sections of the exam: A) Coordinate Project and Team, or B) Verify, Participate in and Perform, in either the reference guide or the USGBC website. I was a bit frustrated because I was told a couple of times by individuals at USGBC that all the material I needed to know for the exam was in the 2.2 Reference Guide.  I became quite aware that this was not the case in the middle of the exam as some 20-30 percent (possibly more) of the exam had to do with the two above mentioned sections.  The Section Perfomance portion of the Score Report reflected this quite revealingly.  I received passing percentages on the Knowledge and Implementation sections, and failing scores on the above mentioned sections.

Thun had actually hit upon some of these areas:

"-What you need to submit for each credit.
- Understand who on the project team (including the owner) is responsible for what part of each credit
- Understand the entire CIR process, from how to request a CIR to how to apply a CIR ruling to your project."

Could anyone on this forum please direct me to where on the website the information for these sections can be found?  I have looked at the sample submittal templates and the registration, certification and CIR sections, but, from what I can see, they do not contain the details that I recall being on the exam. Is there something I'm missing?  Do you have to be a USGBC member to access the adeqaute pages on the site that contain the info?

I have called USGBC several times since having failed the exam.  The first time I called I left a message which was returned.  I'll keep the name of the individual who called confidential for now.  I explained my frustration and was told that this was a common grievance with the exam (that the information for those two sections is not easily attainable and not found in the reference guide).  I was directed to the website and to the pages you (Thun) referred to previously.  I have place subsequent calls and emails with no further response.

Could someone please lend some guidance as to where exactly on the USGBC website one can find the information needed to study for the Coordinate Project Team and Verify, Participate and Perform sections?  Your help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

HEllo,

I am wondering if you have received your study guide in the mail.  I ordered mine but haven't received a confirmation or anything.  Now, I'm just waiting.  Do u know if there is a number I can call to see if they received the e-mail?

Thank you!

If you're referring to my post, nobody has really responded.  I still haven't been able to locate the information for the "missing" sections i mentioned in my previous post.  Do you have any ideas?

I'm sorry to hear that. It's frustrating to have to take a test that you don't have all the information for.

I'll send you an email to you hotmail account.

Hi, I also just took the test and came out 2 - 3 answers short.  It sucks, but I feel the same way about the project coordination stuff.  Is there anyway you can send me the info:

mjbalony (AT) hotmail.com

I would greatly greatly appreciate it. I have to take the test again in the next couple of weeks. :(

Does anyone know how different the US & Canada exams are? I Know some of the Canada requirements are a bit different and some stds refs will be different but I'm wondering if it would still be helpful to order the study guide. I haven't found anything similar up year (at least not yet).

Does anyone find it ironic that the only way to get a study & mock exam guide for an exam on sustainibility and the environment is printed on paper and shipped to you via a fossil fuel using delivery system?  I'm thinking an online or electronic version (protected) would be the better choice.

Actually I've managed to get mock exams electronically. As for the rest, I didn't know they came in hardcopy. It's also possible to access an unprintable pdf version of the reference guide (don't know how they do that; maybe it's just by agreement or maybe it's some kind of code-embedded printing block).

When you create a PDF in Adobe Acrobat, you can set permissions with a password that limits what can be done with the file.

I was only refering to the C.olorado guide specifically, but the ones available from USGBC make my point...have a right protected pdf or something similar.  Printed copy is so 2006 :)

The CO Chapter now has their study guide available as a PDF download (no paper needed!) on their web site. Also, I found a short summary/review from BuildingGreen.com on the CO Chapter Study Guide (which also includes the link to the CO Chapter site):

LEED Professional Accreditation Study Guide and Practice Exam
"Written by green building consultant and LEED-accredited professional Timothy Moore, this is the first published guide to the LEED Rating System that thoroughly prepares readers for the LEED-NC v2.2 exam, released in late 2006. Although geared for the test, which is in turn geared for LEED, the book transcends those subjects and is a savvy guide to building green with LEED and integrated design."

If you're interested, the LEED Professional Accreditation Study Guide and Practice Exam - LEED-NC version 2.2 Edition with EB & CI Quiz Questions from the USGBC CO Chapter offers a high-quality practice exam plus lots of additional information on preparing for the exam and how to use the LEED Rating System effectively (including considerable content that is not available in either the Reference Guide or on the USGBC web site).  The link to their Study Guide page is as follows:

http://www.usgbc***.com/resources/leed-studyguide.html

(replace the three asterisks with "c o l o r a d o" – no spaces)

I've posted this info in a couple threads, so hopefully the people that are looking for it will find it!!

Hey were you able to find the information related to

1. Understand who on the project team (including the owner) is responsible for what part of each credit
2.Understand the entire CIR process, from how to request a CIR to how to apply a CIR ruling to your project.

If yes, then could you please direct me to the link or mail me the information or tell me the source.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :)
