Hello All--

For those of you who passed the LEED exam, what was your score?

I'm curious, because I recently passed the LEED-NC exam with a score of 196. My Percent Correct scores were 100%, 100%, 87%, and 86%.

Don't misunderstand me, I definitely don't want to sound arrogant. Walking in to the test I had strong doubts that I would even pass at all. So I was very suprised to get that score, and I wondered if anyone has scored that high?  Noone at my firm has, and nobody that I know has either.

Best Regards,
Eric

That's a great score, what was your study process/plan?  I'm going to sit for the exam in December.

Actually, I just read the complete reference manual through one time. I skipped the "considerations" part and the "additional resources" part of each section to save time, because I heard the test questions didn't deal with that stuff. That, and I read the tips from the thread on this forum written by "Prospero".

That's all I did.

I scored a 175.
(75%,83%,60%,43%)

LAS3 scored a 189.
archipunjabi scored a 197 (canada)

I'd say most fall into the 172-182 of those that pass

I was proud to have scored 176 (71%, 67%, 67% 71%)

That was the highest score of the three who took the exam from our office, but I was disappointed that it wasn't higher...considering the effort I put into it.

Good job, StrongWilled.  I'll bet that 176 was a welcome sight on the computer screen.  Nice work.

And thanks also to you, Prospero.  I found your "test notes" thread to be very informative and relevant.

Just passed today with a 197!  I was confident I passed, but was shocked when my score popped up on the screen.  My breakdown was as follows:

Knowledge of LEED Cr Intents and Req. - 89%

Coordinate Proj and Team - 100%

Implement LEED Process - 100%

Verify, Participate in and perform tech analyses req'd for LEED Credits - 100%

That's even better than I had done on all of my practice exams!  My study methods were as follows:

1. Read the *** Study Guide and took the practice exam at the end of the book.

2. Read the LEED reference guide V2.2 cover to cover (this is the part that people dread, but it's a must!)

3. Then I took a LEED technical workshop for NC.  This was really helpful and luckily my company paid for it!

4. Then I read the LEED Rating System for New Construction (condensed version of the reference guide) the whole way through 2 or 3 times.  This guide can be found at http://www.usgbc.org/ShowFile.aspx?DocumentID=1095

(Don't rely soley on this source! You must read the entire reference guide first, as the overview will not cover all of the details that you will be required to know.)

5. At the same time that I was reading this LEED Rating System Guide I was also taking the LEED online practice tests at http://www.leedtestprep.com/

I would highly recommend these tests.  They were very beneficial and matched the true exam quite accurately.  I took all of these once and retook "pool A" questions a second time just before the actual test.

6.  I also read through the work book that came as part of workshop that I attended.  This was helpful, but I would say certainly not required.  The book has nice flow chart diagrams for each credit compliane path, but also contains some errors and inconsistencies.

As other people here have posted here, find the study tips posted by prospero on this forum.  I thought his comments were dead on!  Make sure you study the CIR process, project registration, certification, and appeals.  This information can be found on the USGBC website and through links in one of prospero's posts.

That's all I have.  I can't post any other tips that haven't already been mentioned by others here.  Good luck!

Congrats, Buggies!

I wonder how you got a 197 with corresponding percents of 100, 96, 93, and 89?

Perhaps the scaled score was curved in your test area?

I think there were probably just fewer questions for that category.  IE- if I got 1 out of 4 wrong that would be 75% for that category.  I'm pretty sure they don't curve the scoring.  That seems like it would be kind of unfair.

I was trying to figure it out based on all of our numbers and percentages, but there were just too many variables. I still can't figure out - are certain questions weighted more than others?  Do they give partial credit? I guess we'll never know...

I totally agree.  I got 197 too and highly recommend you read the reference guide cover to cover.  Don't skip the 'considerations', don't skim.  Just remember the test is on the USGBC LEED Rating System.  It is not about green design in general. it is not about design  I didn't get a single question that wasn't covered in the Reference Guide or USGBC website.  At $400/test, take the time, read the book check out their website.

I agree, the reference book is certainly at the heart of the LEED exam.  That, and a working knowlege of the USGBC website and process.

However, I did skip the "considerations" part and the "additional resources" part of each section to save time - I was just too busy at work.  I also only took 1 sample exam.  With this preparation I scored a 196, and aced 2 of 4 sections.  So there is hope out there for those who can't make a considerable time commitment.

In retrospect, this was a pretty pleasant experience compared to studying for the PE. **shudder**

I'm still interested in hearing high scores!

I scored a 196, and I've seen others with 197.  Anybody ever scored 200??

Why does it matter what one scores?  It does not change the fact that you are a LEED AP and so is everybody else that passes.  Give them who pass credit for that.  What one scores has no bearing on anything but self-indulgence in the fact that one scored higher than another. When you find someone that scored a 200, then what?

Is there a certain percentage that you have to score and the 4 sections in order to pass?

And what  part of the country are these high scores coming from.

I haven't heard these high scores in Texas that is for sure.

You must've scored 170.

I kid!  I kid!  ; )

I meant no offense, just pure curiosity.  All us engineers at my firm compare our P.E. scores in the interest of good natured competitive spirit.  LEED isn't difficult like the P.E., but I am interested to hear if anyone aced it.

And of course, anyone who passes with any score deserves their due credit.  That goes without saying.
