One of my coworkers took the PPI on-line exam.  She said it was harder than the actual exam, and it really prepared her.  If you do good on the practice, you'll pass the real exam with no problem.

I failed the first exam and am studying to retake in Sept.  Don't give up.  Just keep studying, visit here often, and YES use the practice exams.  I finally am finding that the material is soaking in.

If you give up now you'll always be wondering what if.  I think the test is going to be changing again in the future so get it past you now.

This site plus http://www.intheleed.com and others you find here are very helpful.

Good luck.

Is there a waiting period before you can schedule a re-take for a LEED exam as it is in the ARE?

Nope!  I suggest you retake it within 2-4 weeks if you happen to fail it.

Took the test 2 weeks ago. (EB Version). GreenExamPrep.com was a daily task for me. I took one of the 4 version of the test daily and what ever I missed on it I would sit down and read the Reference guide on. I passed and I thought the online one was a bit out of line vs the real test. They got more in depth on line so I think it really prepared me for the test well. Good luck. :)
