| DSA reviews aslo include the State Fire Marshall in addition to access and structural.

| The DSA and the SFM are not even close to being in the same agency. The SFM is the ACTUAL building official by statute (Fire Life Safety is called that for a reason). The DSA is the Building official for access only. This assumes that the project isn't a school or hospital. The take home message is that you need to ask for each type of project, who will be reviewing. Early "pre" meetings are advised.

And I recently found out that OSHPD no longer (as of 20 years ago!) employs (borrows, rents) SMF personnel for plancheck. OSHPD is now (for two decades!) self-contained.
I hadn't realized that when I first dealt with OSHPD it was only about 2 years old.
