Part of the application process for Wisconsin is to document your work experience. This is in conjunction with the IDP and education. In the application, it states "Include enough detail such that a peer may judge the character of your work. Include magnitude and complexity of work on each engagement including your duties and degree of responsibility." What exactly are they looking for? Is it just a resume I'm supplying them?

Why don't you call your state board and ask?  NY state must be different - only needed to list a chronological experience summary.

I would defintely call and ask, but don't balk if they want you to regurgitate info you already reported to NCARB for IDP.  After documenting all my credits for IDP, I had to fill out a state of Vermont form that asked for the total number of hours of experience, with percentages allocated to categories that were very similar to the breakdown of IDP credits.

I thought it was absolutely ridiculous to have to recalculate everything just so some bureaucrat could look at the numbers in a different format, but when I called and asked (very nicely, people tell me I have a good phone manner...) about it I was rebuffed for questioning the system and the administrator for the state architecture board stopped responding to me.   There seems to be a new person there, though, who has been very pleasant... maybe she can end the duplication of effort!

The duplication of effort certainly seems ridiculous.  In ***, they accept IDP or you can submit your own.  I never did IDP, so I just compiled my hours on the forms downloaded from the CO board, sent it in with the application and it was approved in less than a month.  IDP/NCARB took a couple months or something to finalize and transmit my coworker's information to the CO board.  They didn't require anything else from him and the actual experience requirements were the same*.

*Someone from CO will probably jump in and say they're not, so I will clarify - if you have a professional degree {5 yr BArch or accredited MArch}, the requirements are the same.  If you have a 4 yr BA-Arch, like me, you have to get a few more hours.

Thanks for the response. I emailed Wisconsin DRL and they told me that since I had an NCARB report, I didn't need the experience report or my transcripts. Confusing...since the instructions on the website said otherwise. Still waiting to hear back from them. Anybody knows how long do I have to wait to get my authorization to test letter?
