I am working on getting my hours categorized.  At my first job, I did a lot of as-built measuring and drawing existing floor plans for the purpose of remodeling.  What category would that fit under?  My first thought was construction documents, but technically, it happens before that phase.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

"Field Measurements" are one of the things that NCARB says are supposed to be recorded in the "Related Activities" category.

In fact, if you use the downloadable NCARB spreadsheets to keep track of your IDP units, there is a pull-down menu (it's in Week One of Workbook One) that lets you select about 10 different types of related activities, and Field Measurements is one of those listed.
Other types of Related Activities in the list are , photography, model building, delineation, surveying, learning/maintaining CAD applications & standards, etc.

"Related Activities" is also where you're supposed to record your community service units.

As used in architecture, "delineation" means technical illustration - things like constructed perspective drawings, watercolors, etc. It's what is sometimes referred to as "presentation drawing". These days things like digital renderings and photoshopping could also fall into that category.

That is what I am trying to figure out.  I am sorting currently sorting all of my hours out and catagoizing them where they most obviously fit.  I figure that will tell me where my holes are.  I just wanted to make sure I understood what the various categories meant so that I know what to put where.

brudgers might be hinting that there are a lot of activities that can justifiably fit multiple IDP categories. my office usually considered existing measurements to be part of PreDesign for time sheet & billing purposes so that's where I put it...

As builts might require research into various construction technologies, handling shop drawings, materials research, developing office procedures, client meetings, reviewing mechanical system design...all sorts of things.

Then again, it may just entail holding the dumb end of the tape and mindless delineation.
