Compared to where I am  on the East Coast, I am under the impression that there is a lot of construction going on in western Washington State.  Is this true? Does anyone care to elaborate?

Yes the west coast in general has more activity that the east coast . Seattle area is booming from some of my friends telling me.

From where I'm at...there are alot of mixed use construction projects, but no new ones in the design phase. In the next 1-2 years, the CA phases will be drying up.

Overall, Seattle/Bellevue has been insulated from the craziness elsewhere in the country (I have intern friends in Palm Springs and Las Vegas). But leave no doubt, it's not like it was 2 years ago.

Looking into my crystal ball, there are so many condos/apartments being built in Seattle and Bellevue (a small seattle a stones throw away), that there could be a bust. I have a very difficult time believing that they will all be full. There are already vacancies and 70% have yet to be completed and occupied.

Developers have no qualms about renting/selling for super high prices. They have been able to get away with it due the huge demand the last 5 years to live in urban centers. It's no New York...but $950 for 380 sf and no view and no parking place... <ouch!>

I asked the question because I noticed that CB Richard Ellis is hiring a lot of project managers in that area compared to the rest of the country, implying that there is a pipeline of architecture projects there.
