Please let me know:
NYCCC - New York CIty Construction Code adapted IBC version. It seems covered just new construction.
How can I find which code or document is covering alteration of existing structures?
I know in NJ it is rehabilitation subcode. And in NYC?
Thank you!

In NYC they go by when the building was built. For certain applications, you can actually use an older code instead of the new more strict code.
You might want to try and reach out to the building department and ask them which code is relevent. But, good luck with contacting someone from the NYC DOB, they are not always helpful and can be rude at times. There are a few that will help. You can also check the website below: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/html/home/home.shtml
You can also ask a expeditor who has worked with the DOB for awhile. They may be able to help with which code to use.
