I have this weekend side job which required me to use my stamp & file for the job.
How much should I ask for?
My possible employer offer 1,250 /month.

Is it 16 hours/weekend? If so, that offer is $18/hr and that's assuming you'd be an employee and not an independent contractor.
What does your current employer have to say about it?

you boss is asking to use your stamp? you need to charge him/her extra for stamping anything. it sounds like he is paying you peanuts for you to be liable.
I freelance 20-40 hours a month (AT) $55/hr. and they use their stamp.
btw, is $1250/mo. tax free?

well if its fixed fee, what will you do if they ask you to do something that require more than 24 hours that month? are you allow to ask for more money?
Or, if they don't have enough work to fill your 12hrs. this month, do you still get paid?
Imagine you were the boss hiring someone, what would you do?

I think I should charge on an hourly basis.

| Most of the registered architects I know charge anywhere from $80 to $110 an hour for their services. A few even more. I presently charge approximately $26/hr and I'm not an architect, 22 years experience in mostly residential, various commercial, some educational, lots of nursing care, adult day care.

What if you have less than 5 years experience?
I wonder if there is a list of licensed Architect rate. It is not on AIA comp. survey.

This probably doesn't answer the question exactly, but here are our hourly rates:
Principal Architect: $200 /hour
S.h.i.t. Man Architect (me): $150 /hour
Historic Preservation Consultant: $150 /hour (we work with one of the best in the nation)
Historic Preservation Consultant/CAD: $100 /hour (she has a Masters in Historic Preservation)
CAD Services: $75-$100 /hour
NOTE: These are gross billable rates that take in account consultant cost, CAD, liability, all other business overhead.
When I get paid for hourly CAD/ Administrative work, I get $30 /hour for jobs that I'm not actively involved in. Normally, I get 50% of the architectural commission.

I presently charge approximately $26/hr That's low for salary. For independent work, you might as well be giving it away.

What would you say your gross and net would be per year?
What would you say the cost of living is for your area of the country and what your gross/net comparison is?
IW, and for anyone else, what would you say your number of billable hours are per year?
Ok so RA's bill at $120/hr, what's the net after all expenses?
Presently, I can't put money away for my son's college, my retirement, things that need fixed on my house and I know that in the next 3 years I'm going to need a new roof, both vehicles are over 100,000 miles and will need to be replaced in the next 2 years. I pay all my own medical benefits. I had a recent medical stay of 4 days that cost me nearly $10,000 and my deductable is $7000. And No firm in Pittsburgh wants to pay anyone who isn't an RA more than $41,000 a year, and I have more than 12 years experience with residential and commercial.
At my salary of $54,000, I can make it from payday to payday and it's not like we spend it on entertainment or hobbies or food or stuff. It's medical benefits, gas for vehicles, and vehicle maintenance, weekly groceries. Is it just Pittsburgh or is this the situation of the field?

| It is absurd...and I can assure you even after being RA you will not be ahead by much as far as money. 54k lord I know people work for call centers make that much. Its really disgust me. its either we are not value what we doing or what we are doing really has no value.
