I am taking GS next week and I was wondering if anyone knows if a copy of the reference formulas provided in the exam are available anywhere.  I want to know which formulas they include, and what they look like (i.e., are the formulas labeled or is it just a big list with no descriptions)

Any input would be welcome.

Thanks

Everyone's test is different and that goes for the reference material as well. I had plenty of material in mine, but only needed to look at it for 3-4 questions.

when i went into the exam i spent the first minute or two reading through the reference section so that i was familiar with what was on it before i started the exam, that way i wasn't fumbling around with it at the end of the exam when i needed to find something.  i thought that helped me because i was then able to focus on the questions.  there was plenty of information in the reference section and it was organized in a straightforward way.  don't stress too much about it.  good luck!

Thanks guys....

How are the equations labeled, if at all?  I don't know if that's an "off limits" question or not......

i honestly don't remember if the equations were labeled or not.  i just remember thinking,  " ok-  got it,  this is gonna work"...    i wish i remembered,  but all i have are impressions, and brain mumbo jumbo.

does anyone know if the beam diagrams and formulas are in the reference section or is that something we need to memorize.  i know the wl/2 etc.  but the remembering the deflection formulas for each beam type is a bit much.

Took the test yesterday, and the pages with the diagrams from the steel manual where in my reference section.  Funny thing is that they asked a question about what would moment diagram look like for a certain type of beam and all i did was look it up in the reference.....

I just took it today.  All that stuff is there and neatly organized with equations, example shear and moment diagrams, labels.  It was actually more than I had expected.  So don't worry about memorizing deflection formulas, focus on concepts and applying them........

Oh, and as of July 1st you cannot bring a calculator.  You use the one onscreen, its kind of annoying in that there is no x(squared) button and stuff, but you'll survive...
