I finally did it, after 6 weeks or more of studying, I took the exam. I felt relatively confident going into the exam, but once I read the first 5 or 6 question, I got totally nervous and felt like its impossible to pass this one.
Another 20 questions or so into it, I felt a little better and and I gradually relaxed. There were lots and lots of calculation questions. I'd say 25-30. No history questions. Lots of truss, and beams with various end conditions...The wording of the questions were confusing, and it took me a while to understand what they were really asking for. They offered more information than was needed to answer a question and this really threw me off. I guess if any of you are taking it soon, keep this in mind, just ignore some of the extra stuff, its useless information and it wastes your time.
I feel 50-50.. some moments I think I passed and some other moments I seriously doubt it. It really wasn't about memorizing and formulas, it was about really-deeply understanding the concepts and being able to apply them to totally new conditions. And it was also about speed. If I had more time, I'm confident I would've passed. I just didn't have time to dwell on anything. Some answers came to me an hour after I left the exam!
I hope I pass because after this I only have LF and and I'm done. I don't want to delay this process another 6 months.... especially since I don't know how else to prepare for this exam.
Sorry for the negativity but maybe I'll bring you good news in a few weeks afterall...

I felt the same way coming out of ME ... and found out two weeks later that I passed. I think (hope), that if you have any sense that you could have passed, with all the trial questions they throw out, you probably did.
I am just getting started with GS and LF and appreciate the advice.

Thanks, this makes me feel much much better. I now remember that I felt the same after ME and then I learned that I passed, so maybe you're right.
I wish you luck on GS and LF and all the rest. Just remember to try and really understand the concepts and don't worry about memorizing anything, just have a deep comprehension of the concepts. After GS I only have LF left ... so I really really want to get this over with!

I PASSED!
I can't beleive it but its true. I honestly don't think I did well considering how confusing the questions were, but perhaps many of the questions didn't count... Only LF exam left!

Dear 360-
Can you tell me when you took the exam, and got the result exactly? I took it Oct. 11th, and didn't get the result yet.... It's been more than 4 weeks. I am getting more negative now....

Awesome job, 360! Congratulations! I hope to follow your lead soon. I took my test on Oct. 30th. I would say your exam experience and my mine are similar. I had 27 calculations questions and you are right about them being really wordy and confusing. Here's crossing my fingers I passed.

I noticed in Ballast that there were factors that made changes when designing for bending to the Fb, in wood, like loads and repetitive members Cf, Cr, Cm, Cd.... were these factors included in the calcs? or was in just straight foward s=m/Fb
