Kaplan GS CD says this is a Field Weld. I think this is a shop weld, welded all around.
I have never seen a field weld designated in this way. I would expect a flag to designate field welds.
Am I wrong?
I'm seriously loosing my confidence in Kaplan material.

i think you're right... kaplan is wrong often. everything i've seen says the little flag means field weld.

All around is a circle, not a dot.
I can't remember the chronology, but both the dot and the flag have been used over time to designate field welds.
I believe the dot is obsolete and was replaced due to confusion with the all around symbol.
How old is your book?
