The fourth page is password protected, but that ended up being a problem for me: it seems the font that was used to create the file is a little different than the version on my system. The text in the text boxes wraps too much and ends up overlapping other text or cutting off.
Maybe someone who has a system that shows the font correctly can convert it to .pdf or something.

Either convention of Clockwise or Counter-clockwise as being positive is OK (it depends on one's personal preference). Just remember to keep it consistent within the same problem.

I just took David's seminar in Rochester. A grueling 3 days with 10 days of material packed in. My opinion is the material in his book is useful - BUT his seminar is what really makes the book worth while. He puts things into a practical sense that the book cannot easily relay.
His tips that I found most helpful in preparing for the exams:
30-40% is Materials and Methods - understanding the terms of the trade (economy, construction techniques, etc.) for Concrete, Steel, and wood construction.
Not memorizing specific formulas, but understanding how they work and how if you manipulate one variable, what the results are. Section Modulus, moments and shear, etc. There's some good "cheat sheets" in the FTP site.
Selection of structural systems to serve a specific functions. Some questions ask for "which system best blah blah" which are triggers to know there may be more than one acceptable answer. I think this was the best from the seminar - learning how to slowly and effectively read the questions, pick out buzz words, and not get tricked.
I highly recommend his seminars if its possible.

P.S. - I don't know if I really answered. There are several in my office who have taken the exam and hinted that the material in Ballast and ALS is heavy in math and the test was not that way. They tend to relay the same intent that David has in his seminars. - For what it's worth. <><
