Does anybody know how do they score it?
How much for the Questions and how much for the vignette?
Has anybody gotten the result of P,P&P?

Nah, but I only tested 9 days ago! But I would be interested to know when people get results. Have any 4.0 people received results yet?
I'm eager to move onto my next exams, but imagine I could go through 4 or 5 before getting results, which really makes no sense.

| In other discussions, it sounds like the wait is expected to be in the ballpark of 4 months for results from the first 4.0 exams. No one has gotten any results yet that I've seen.

Whoa, 4 months! When the kind lady at Prometrics told me to expect my results in a couple of weeks, I just chuckled, knowing we wait far longer, but 4 months? Did NCARB ever notify 4.0 takers of that issue? It's a little hard to continue without feedback, or is it just better to ignore their crap and move on?
I think I just answered my own question.
thanks for info

I jsut took CDS and posted my experience. I do not want to be held back and already scheduled 4 tests for September. Next is PPP. What is the point of waiting for the results? I feel I am prepared but the CD test make me quite uncertain now. I have to move on.
Good luck to you.

I am taking PP&P on September 11th, this is my first exam and I was wondering how long it would take to get the results, I figured it would take a few weeks but had no idea it would take a few months. What agony!
It makes no sense to me why it takes so long to get results, the exam is take electronically and scored electronically, correct. We should be able to see our results almost as soon as we finish the exams, I guess procrastination in architecture never ends.

I took this exam on July 3rd and still have not received my results. I called last week and they said it could be another 3 weeks. That would be pushing 12 weeks before I see the results.

That sounds ridiculous,
I don't understand what are they doing, but they should be working on a curve to get the new grading done,
Any way this is how they do, I believe we should just disregard them and keep going!!

I took PPP on July 1st. I emailed NCARB last week inquiring about the lack of test results and this was their response: "it is taking longer than usual for the 4.0 to be scored andmailed out because Prometric is doing an additional quality control
check on all 4.0 exams before releasing them to the state boards...They should be coming out very soon in the next week or two. After this, the normal turnaround time will 2 to 4 weeks and give your board a little time to send them out once received
from Prometric."
So there you go...hurry up and wait everyone.

Why would Prometric be performing quality control? I thought this was scored by someone contracted by NCARB (I can't recall the name at the moment--ARE operations control or something like that)
That sounds fishy to me. I did have a really lame survey at the end of both my exams where they asked me to evaluate (in the vaguest terms) my experience at Prometrics. No way are they studying and implementing all the information gleaned from that!
Can anyone else think of a reason that Prometric would be holding up the scores? Sounds to me like a poorly thought out excuse. Wouldn't it be nice if they had the stones to just be honest ("we have to verify that the test content was fair" or "the NCARB dog ate your vignette") Personally, I'd feel a bit better about the whole experience if they'd treat us more like adults.
I could sort of imagine this delay if, for example, the 4.0 exam had the new format questions that they promised (fill in the blank and whatnot) but I haven't gotten those and haven't heard of anyone else getting them either. It's the same test, in terms of method.
I do notice that my mailbox is filling up with junk mail that I am sure came from either NCARB or State Board (Prometric?) selling my address. I guess that'll keep me distracted from what's not in the mailbox.
But thanks for sharing the info, BB9.

This reminded me of when I told NCARB about the errors on their study guides that some people in the forum were finding. Their response was:
"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We received the sample items from Prometric. I have contacted the committee members to check these items out. We will change them or the answer as necessary."
Something that bothered me at the time - they got their sample questions from Prometric?! Isn't Prometric supposed to get the questions from NCARB? Hmmm.

They work together to develop questions, but I suspect that Prometric probably has "ownership" over the questions.

Hah!
But seriously, shouldn't these questions be written by someone in our field? Or at the very least, rigorously edited by someone in our field?
"legally defensible," indeed.
I wonder who they had sitting for the so-called beta tests that they supposedly administered? Or is that us?

Just an FYI to all the people who are asking about results. There is a post in the General Topics Forum, where jpccab took CDS on July 17, and just received their results yesterday. This person was able to view their results on the TBAE (Texas Board), but it is a sign that results should start to trickle into the anxious one's mailboxes sometime this week and next.

Yeah I got 2 passes in the mail today! I can't believe it--took PPP on 8/19 and SPD on 8/26.
What a relief!
i hope this means other people will get results soon. it was starting to get me down.
I'm in Virginia. They came in the same envelope, from my state board, and the date on both letters is 9/16.
It's my first pass, so I am kinda excited. Well, my first TWO passes.
Thanks all for commiserating during the wait!

I just called the California State Architects Board and the guy told me that the ARE 4.0 tests that were taken from July 1st through July 12th has been received by them and they will shortly mail it out. I, unfortunately, took mine at the end of July. So hopefully not too long before the rest has been completed.
If I receive the test score and it is a fail, I will be disappointed cause I spent more time chasing after my scores then studying for it.

Thanks! I still feel like this
It's been a lot of work, but now it feels like it's paying off.
In fact, I wanted to ask you the same question! I decided to move onto BDCS and get those vignettes out of the way. Did you do that one yet? I keep hearing there's a lot of history, which would be good for me (I did another masters in Arch History) But the scope of the MC seems pretty broad otherwise.
I am realizing how much experience helps, depending on the topic I guess. I've been out of school for 9 years but I also worked before that in a firm that did pretty hardcore preservation, and I learned a ton there.
Mostly I do high-end residential which certainly is not considered a plus for a lot of this material. But I actually enjoy studying a lot of it, to be honest.
CDS was a struggle, because I've not been exposed to much contract stuff, and certainly not to bidding, but I do a lot of construction dwgs. Reading the contracts was the biggest challenge for me. Actually, I felt a lot better coming out of that one than I did the other 2. Also it just gets easier as you move forward, don't you think? The unknowns become less so, and with that you feel less unsettled. And I stopped giving myself a hard time when I didn't know an answer--no one is supposed to know everything (though I feel like real knowitall today! That's why I am moving onto BDCS--it will humble me!)
What about you? What's next? Any BDCS advice for me?
cheers!
