Attached is the Grading Alt 2 vignette. My question: within the swale, does each topo line need to stay 5' away from itself or can it come to a point? I've shown each topo line staying 5' away from itself in the upper portion of the drawing and simply coming to points in the lower section of the drawing.
I think to fulfill the max 2% gradient, we just need to keep topo lines 5' from OTHER topo lines, so coming to a point would be okay. I've just seen some other solutions that are making more rounded topo lines in the swales, around 5' sketch circles, and I want to be certain. Thank you!

Interesting question! I have Kaplan book “Site planning & Design” 2009. This is what I found on page 143, Lesson seven: Site Grading:
“There are two details to keep in mind while completing this exercise. First, you must be certain which contour you are working on, because it is easy to become confused and lose your way. Second, you should maintain a similar distance between the loop ends, so that surface water will flow at a consistent speed”.
What do you think?

Thank you, Lili. Hmm... I'm not sure what to make of that, as I think both the "pointed" and "5' rounded" swale topo lines are "looping" back on themselves. Does anyone who has passed the exam have any tips on what they did? Or can anyone refer us back to a previous forum topic on this? Thanks!

| The only thing I can think as far as reference is the video of site grading on the FTP site. This one seems to be very complicated I am also wondering what we'll be your finish floor elevation?

The NCARB sample passing solution shows pointed topo lines, so I went with that when I sat for the exam yesterday. My exam's site grading vignette was similar to the NCARB practice vignette.
