Ile, I wish more of this reading was available online. The link is just an excerpt from an entire book, but I found even just this little bit helpful.
Some other sites I've found to be of use:

If you have access to the Architect's Portable Handbook, there is some good, concise info on soils, calculating CY, foundation types. It's all in section 2 entitled "Site".
