That´s great!!! Congrates!!!
I agree with 6/9. I saw the end of the tunnel at exam #6 or 7. And test #5 was tough, because I felt like I took so many exams but there still are so many of them left.
Like you said ´not losing momentum is important. I didn´t group the exams well, I lost a momentum in the middle and it was a bit hard to keep on the track. I mixed graphics in the middle of MC´s thinking that I won´t get bored that way, but it was a mistake. (my order was CD, LEED, MM, BP, BT, PD, SP, ME, GS, LF, and I studied BT, PD together and SP and ME together at the same time.) I should have taken all three graphics in a row and finished up the MC´s. It took me about 11 months. I was studying full time for about three months (not working due to my visa lapse), and unfortunately that´s about the time I lost momentum.
Also life happens, like girlfriend, boyfriend, marriage, and baby..., so take that into consideration.

Please help. I don't see the "Day four of David Thaddeus's Seminar Notes" whcih were so highly recommended above. A few of the links in the GS FTP site didn't open, maybe it was one of those. Are there any technically savy people out there that can post a link to it or tell me it's EXACT name on the FTP site. PLease, I'm very interested in reading it. I've just begun my studying for LS tonight and I thought I'd start there.

Thanks and congrats once again, I hope to join you in the not too distant future.
BP is next followed by ME. The way I see it, the only way to fly is to keep the nose to the grindstone. Most poeple think I'm nuts but I'm one who if I stop I have a hard time getting started again.

Six, thanks for continuing to remind people of this great post, really. So many people finish their nine whammies and understandably disappear from this forum. Totally understandable as it's an experience that we'd all like to put behind us. Hell, I'm counting the minutes until I can say, "Just one more to go!!" It's probably not unlike being in prison minus the cozy bunkmate and soap-sharing showers.
A quick question on the FEMA chapters. I took the one-day Thaddeus seminar here in Boston in May and one of the last things he said to us regarding studying for LF was to "Spend 70-80% of our time with chapters 4, 5 & 8 of FEMA 454!!". Now, you've reiterated this as have others. I've read chapter 4, which is actually a good read. I think it helps me visualize mentally, the effect of an earthquake on a building. Kaplan, as usual, dives head-first into the calculations. Folks, how 'bout walking us through the early days in the relationship of a boy and his building rather than cutting to the teenage, angst-ridden "Must crunch numbers!" sequence? I digress.
I read another post that said to read ALL of FEMA 454. Umm....There's no way in hell I'm gonna cuddle up with a stack of pages thicker than the Boston phone book if I don't have to. I'm stickin' to chaps. 4, 5 & 8 for now. Please confirm.
Again, thanks for sticking around for those of us still waiting for the day when the bulls come unlock my cell door and say, "Grab your stuff, kid. Your time's done here."

Sorry it has taken me a little while to respond. I thought I was still watching this topic, but did not receive an email with your post. Thanks for your compliments on my post. This whole thread is a great reminder of what I was doing one year ago. So glad to be past that. Of course, right now, for a brief moment I am not in architecture. Crazy, but Uncle Sam needs me in another field right now.
I would say, stick to the simple reading material that I suggest, over going too far over your head and reading all of FEMA 454. I found that some candidates attempt to read too much, and therefore go overboard with facts and information that just complicates retrieval of the important things required for a pass. Remember, you only have to pass the test, not get a 100%!!!

Thanks for the response, Six. No need to apologize. I actually tackled the LF monster last Friday and think I did reasonably not unwell. They peppered me with concepts in a "In a head-on collision with seismic forces, what soil life jacket would you like to be least wearing and in what structurally-framed vehicle would you most likely be driving? One with a Volvo-like braced frame? How 'bout a crumple zone-ready Rigid frame?" fashion. You really have to know what the purpose of system 'X' is and how its performance either tanks or excels given the soil condition, the building's skin, etc.
You have to pretend you're sitting down with a car salesman and be prepared to answer questions like, "Okay, what sort of wind-resistance characteristics will you be needing? Hmm.......It says here that your past credit history lists you as a 'High Seismic Risk'. Lemme talk to my manager and see if that will affect your Zoning qualification. Oh! And I noticed you're having a Fire Station! Congratulations! But, you do realize that puts you into the next Importance Factor, right?".
