not as bad as expected. about 10-12 calcs. mostly overturning moments, chord forces. i had a very even distribution of siesmic / wind questions. know your horizontal diaphrams and how rigid and flexible diaphrams differ in transfering lateral forces. know torsion and be able to visualize how the building  reacts / rotates given different plan diagrams.  no history questions, no specific architect or building questions. 90% theory, 10% basic calcs.  read other posts about what a dogbone is. know what lateral force resisting systems are more brittle vs more ductile etc.  understand what effects natural period of a building and why.

what i studied:

Kaplan book

archiflash cards

FEMA 4,5,8

"Day 4 Notes" of thaddeus seminar

WOW, 3 months, very impressive!  Are you working at the same time?  That is a buttload of studying.  I took my first exam TWO years ago!

you are right 3 months is very impressive. yes i have been working full time, but the project i was working on at the office went on an extended hold and they were concerned that'd i'd leave the place (i have a specialty in the profession which is hard to replace). so i told them, i will stay on board if you let me study for the ARE at the office while this project is on hold. so yes, i got paid to study for my exams 8 hours a day. i knew exactly when the project was starting up again so made sure to get them ALL in before that happened.  it was a pretty sweet  situation for everyone involved. now i'm pretty much done with the exams (minus BT retake) and the project is back up and i can focus on it entirely.
