since the FTP was wiped....I have updated my own notes to include the tougher flashcards (for me at least) and the 10 sentences of worthy info from Kaplan. to any newbys to the ME exam forum...heed my warning....
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON KAPLAN. there is really noting in there....if i had not read Ballast first, i would not have been able to piece together the mashed up attempt put forth by the KAPLAN organization
on FTP called MEP Ballast Notes
Enjoy

I would much rather read KAPLAN than MEEB any day. Sure, it's not nearly as detailed as MEEB. I have not read Ballast so I can't compare. If someone has never studied for this exam, I still recommend KAPLAN as a begining source for their studying. It's by far not the only source.
If there are only 10 sentences in there worth reading, explain why some have passed this exam first try after reading KAPLAN once? I know you're being sarcastic, I'm also making a point. No source is the one and only source, not even MEEB. If you can't understand or follow MEEB, Lechners or Ballast will explain it in architectural terms.
KAPLAN is by far not the best source but if I started reading MEEB straight from the start, I'd give up before I ever got started good. KAPLAN introduces the overall basics, latent heat, sensible heat, single phase, three phase, etc. MEEB gets into more meat of the subjects.

| I can not tell you if you are right or wrong since I am taking the test tomorrow, and thank you for placing your notes on the FTP site. I must say though that I have used Kaplan all along and have passed 5 of 5 so far. I would not agree with telling people not to use the books. I understand supplementing the books, for example I used MEEB also. We all study and learn in different ways and I think what one person finds unsuitable another person my find works great for them. I am for whatever gets all of us past these exams and done with the ARE. I am so frustrated with NCARB and their grading right now and AIA (aka the Frat that hates the profession) that I just want to get through these last 4 so I can spend time not worrying about how they are screwing with everybody in here. I have been fortunate and I cross my fingers for that because it seems like some people are just going through hell.

| Just in case you haven't found it already - the FTP site is accessed from the button along the top of the page. You'll want to become familiar with it, but for ease of the immediate question, the link is: http://www.areforum.org/guest/Mechanical%20and%20Electrical/MEP%20Ballast%20notes/
