. . . well I just got back from this one, and unfortunately I don't have a bad feeling about it.
Why, you ask, do I say unfortunately? Because this was the same feeling I had when I first took Pre-Design. I walked out of that test practically jumping for joy, only to be deflated three weeks later after getting the FAIL letter.
What's more is, this current feeling of euphoria is quite opposite from the feeling of despair which accompanied me during the weeks that followed my last 2 exams, both of which I passed.
There was a Canadian code/ chart question, but it wasn't really a question that you'd have to specifically know about the Canadian code to answer correctly.
I only had maybe 3 calculations, that I saved for the end.
Like some of the others, I had many W.T.F. questions, but overall I felt the mix of material was quite broad - with an emphasis on sustainable and electrical.
I literally finished my last question with 10 seconds left - no time for review. But, I could have been finished earlier if I weren't sandwiched between two people who must have had the HEAVIEST KEYBOARD HANDS ON THE ENTIRE PLANET . . . AND BEYOND. It was almost like they each were using heavy clubs, just pounding away on the keys - kind of a disturbing, synchronized symphony of mass on plastic. First there was one on the right, and then one on the left - a definite doubling of the sound source, with me right in the middle, and it sure didn't feel like an small increase of 3db when the second person sat down - more like 50 db. I tried using the Prometric headphones to block it out, but the ringing in my ears was worse. Plus, I could still hear them bashing away - I'd rate the STC rating on the headphone material very low. I rose my hand to complain about it, but the girl didn't come out.
Regardless of the outcome of this one, I am going to take a break from the multiple choice exams, and take a few graphics exams.
EDIT: I've thought about this exam more, and I realize more incorrect answers are sticking out in my mind than previously thought.

thanks!

Many questions revolving around solar positioning of buildings, solar intensity, etc.
A couple of septic questions, including a diagram asking to identify a certain exterior component.
A couple of plumbing questions, but ZERO questions regarding valve identification.
Many electrical/ lighting, but only one or two that were formula based - including zonal cavity - which it sounds like everyone seem to get. One strange identify this type of light question, that I think I figured out through the process of illimination. one revolving fixture life-cycle cost.
A good bunch of Mechanical questions, but only ONE, yes ONE question asking to identify the system via a diagram (and that was the one thing I studied the most for).
A handful of fire related questions.
One historic question that has been mentioned many times on this forum.
A very strange, but obvious computer network question
One question to identify means of monitoring off-site security - which I got wrong.
I'm pretty bad at remembering things like this in the short term, but I will post others as I think of them.

thank you so much!
I'm so nervous! I'm taking practive exams today & tomorrow...I will feel better if my scores are good or really bad if the scores are below 70. That doesn't mean I will pass but at least makes me feel less nervous for the exam.
thank you again!

The thing with the practice tests is that, at a minimum they prepare one for the thinking that is involved with the test. Out of all of the practice questions, 80 ALS, 43 NCARB (I did not use the computer practice questions), I only found a couple that were similar - but, I did find (I think for the first time) one that was almost exactly taken from the NCARB mock exam book.
You probably have discovered like I have, that as you take these tests it almost feels like you studied too much, and that many of the questions are not complicated, but more or less skewed from what you studied just enough to throw you for a loop. At least with me there always seems to be that feeling of crap, I know the gist of what I'm being asked, but I just can't put a finger on the correct answer . . . Although most of the time I can at least get down to 2 choices.
Good Luck on Saturday!

Good luck! I test next week and I'm scared still... You will enjoy graphics. I actually loved BT...call me crazy but I loved studying for it, loved the test, and walked out of there more confident than any other test... It was so wonderful compared to studying for M/E.. haha..
So...I want to share with you my irony... as I was trying to decide if I should focus on electrical or plumbing tonight, I go to turn on my light in my room, and the circut blows! There was a loud popping noise, and half the house was off power! ha! I had to go to the panel, reset the circuit, and then the light in my room still didn't go on...despite the fact that everything else did. hmm... I replaced the bulbs and its all good again now but I guess my question was answered... I'm reading about bulbs again tonight. and circuits.
Doesn't it make you wonder if things happen for a reason!?

Oh boy, heavy keyborad pounding is my worst nightmare. Please use the headset next time. I found this really useful by even practicing taking practice exam wearing this on before exam. Obviously better than being busy cursing the heavy hand rather focusing on your own exam.

| I forgot to mention, the guy on my left seem to let out a dramatic sigh every time he read a question. It seemed to be a signal as if he was so upset at the exam content and/ or wasn't prepared enough and wanted to let the entire room know it . . . every 2 minutes or so.

Good luck, Newly!
I've had no problems taking in my own earplugs. I won't wear their headphones - not only are they a sanitary nightmare, they are totally uncomfortable.

i feel your pain about having a foreign question on the exam as i (a canadian) have run into this all the time. Actually, the Ncarbs are American Exams that for some not so bizarre reason, when they all decided that we should have reciprocity they all decided that of course, the american exam would be better than the canadian exam so now all canadians write the american exam. You can only begin to imagine how much irrelevant information we have to deal with. Plus the whole imperial thing, dont even get me started. and as a country you somehow managed to change the spelling and pronunciation of aluminum. I for one am trying really hard to bring back the proper spelling and pronunciation of aluminIUM. also, you spell colour wrong. dont get me started on the whole softwood lumber thing and the fact that the only reason leed water efficiency exists is so we can try to save some of the water you are about to steal from us. alas, i digress. being canadian, i will even apologize to you for ncarbs' audacity in imposing a Canadian code question on your precious American exam.
