So, spent 4 weeks REALLY studying for this. Took it in March 2007 and failed it....big time. Re-took it this morning and am so darn discouraged. This test is ALL over the place. I felt pretty good going into it. I took every practice test I could get my hands on and was doing pretty well on them. Felt good about everything. Studied items on Eric B's post, etc.

Went through the 105 questions and had marked 50 of them! Went back and got it down to about 25, but honestly some were just wild ass guesses. Like did ANYONE here study the Canadian plumbing code??? Because there is a freakin' question about it.

Sorry, just need to vent. If I had not passed 5 tests already and invested so much time and money (not to mention 5 years of college) I seriously would just throw in the towel and change career paths. But being 35 years old and 11 years into my career, I feel like I need to see this through, even though I work more in construction now then architecture.

To any of you that have passed this test, my hat goes off. I have no idea how you did it. I really don't.

Thanks for letting me me get it all out. I have already cried, already envisioned strangling the people that make this test up, and tonight I will be hitting the sauce and maybe a tub of ice cream for good measure.

See y'all back here in about 4 mos when I will try to pass it for the 3rd time. Ugh.:P

wow,
well you know this website is a great place to vent it all out. Take all those sensible and latten heats out of you...lol.
I have never felt good about this exam, and I chose to do it last, and 2 wks away from the date and I am so not wanting to go in watsoever. I think I am going to donate $35 to Prometric for an extra month or so for this thing.
Good luck .

Great rant gr8danesara. You and I graduated at the same time and I assume similar real world experience. I do feel your pain in so many ways. I'm looking to take this beast later this month and I really really hope I get through this one without the need for a defibrillator. Chin up, you are not alone in this. Good luck...

I feel your pain - took this God-awful thing in April 2007 and failed.  Just re-took it May 24, feeling great about my preparedness, studied my ASS off and walked out of there like someone had punched me in my brain.  Now it's the waiting game, which sucks, cuz each day I feel worse about how I did on it.  To make matters EVEN worse, it's my last section, so I'm this close to being licensed.

We all know how you feel.  I don't think many of us walk out of these exams with a boatload of confidence.

Keep your spirits up, the mail box may surprise you in 3 weeks.

Thanks! I actually took a "mental health" day after my test. It helped to just curl up with a movie, glass of wine and even took a nap. I am in a much better place today!

I know we are not all idiots (couldn't have survived architecture school if we were) and I know there are probably many more "lurkers" out there that have failed a few and feel as frustrated and stupid as I did after that test. It's just nice to know I am not alone.

I am taking a month off before even scheduling my next one....PD. I know that's gonna' be a bugger....wonder what I was thinking saving all these tough ones for last!?!?

Anyway, FAIL letter receivers of the world...UNITE! I have 3 of those lovely letters, but I plan on burning them (along with the MEEBS book probably) once I pass all my tests! Should be a helluva bonfire!

hehehe...can i contribute my stack of FAIL's to the bonfire? there's more than a few lurking in my house somewhere. look, don't worry about post-exam syndrome. you probably passed the stupid thing. and, it's only a matter of time before the dedicated ones get their license, so hang in there. you're only four passes away!

This was the last one for me. The first two times were not successful and I understand your concern about were these questions came from. On the third and final try the questions were more in line with the study material. I left the test feeling thankful that I would not ever have to see this place (prometric dump center) again. Pass score arrived about 4 weeks later with the title of architect.

So don't let this one beat you down.

Hey Grate Dane - I share your sentiments - was also highly discouraged after taking the exam (and failing)

Well, logged onto Texas website and sure enough my fail notice was sitting right there looking back at me. No surprise, but still sucked to see my miracle wish had not come true. I am so freakin' tired of these tests, but will forge ahead I suppose. Ugh.

so sorry about your result.
your post is one of the reason why I postponed my exam date to the end of next month instead of this Sat. I am actually reading the big fat MEEB now and it's boring me to dead, but I have to swallow it. I already spent 1.5month studying for ME already, but I don't think it's enuf. So, I just gave myself another month. If 2.5 months of intense study and I still fail, that's totally out of whack.
