I hate this test...no suprise there. I am studying Ballest,Ching,Flash, and Forum Posts. Are there any other things to consider besides reading the "doorstop book "MEEB? I tried skimming it over just overwhelming after the first 10 min. any other suggestions? I know all these tests are "testing basic knowledge of material" but I mean come on that book is intense...help me

Don't want to sound like Captain Obvious here, but do you have any of the practice exams by Kaplan, Ballast, Leppo, or even the new NCARB 4.0. I am finding them very useful in helping me determine what areas I am weak in and where a little more study time is required.

As for MEEB, I skip whatever I feel is beyond the scope of the exam. It is a much easier read that way.

Use your past fail as guide what to, and what to not study. Use it to your advantage. You've gone one round with ME, I put my gloves on next week for round one.

I found taking it topic by topic helped. A couple days of HVAC, followed by a couple days of lighting, a few hours of fire protection, etc. I would read one topic from all the sources I had. As I read, it got easier and the material more familiar.
There are many layers to the onion of ME. I too am struggling to figure out just how many layers to peel off will be adequate.

Would you mind sharing what additional study material you used to prepare for the second go-around?

BTW...Best of Luck...

I would do a chapter in ALS, then quiz, then Read (Glance) through MEED chapters that correspond to it (ALS and MEEB pretty much are layed out sequentially).  Archiflash cards after the intense studying (usually laying in the bed-hey they are convienient).

I then did a practice exam, those questions I got wrong I researched.

I could use another full blown practice exam and have been trying to find one!!

I see, thank you. So when you refer to practice quiz/ and exams...I presume you are refering to the ALS/Kaplan exams in the study guide test banks?

Also, due to your experience with the exam from the past, was there any points in particular that you reinforced your self to focus more on, for your retake?

Any feedback is helpful....and thanks again.

Just back from exam.

Usual crap....

One question on the acoustics of the pantheon-I guessed cause all of the answer sounded pretty darn good

One question about 'windows' in the bathhouses of Ancient Rome

2 PSYCHO chart questions..one totally trying to trick you

One with R/U values in walls ...you have to reverse cause they gave you a U value and added an R value to it

3 or 4 sounds/ acoustic questions

Something about a Hermetic HVAC unit

Something about a windwheel or something like that

Almost no electrical questions...whatsoever...one about calculating a load and multiple by costs.

Good Feedback, thanks for info....

Regarding the "windwheel"...Did this have anything to do with the Dissicant cooling wheel?

Thanks and Let us know when you get that PASS letter!

Roman Baths..I nearly needed a bath when I read it.

I DO FEEL A LOT MORE CONFIDENT ABOUT EXAM!  GS next......July 9.

I have to wait till Nov to retake LF...hopefully I am not taking MEP again.
