Can someone explain to me why the answer to the below question is water closet given the choices below?

This is a question from the ARE 4.0 study guide.

8. Which of the following plumbing fixture types is NOT

permitted to connect to a waste stack vent?

Bidets

Utility sink

Lavatories

Water closets

Thank you!

toilets/ water closets and urinals are connected to *soil* lines. waste lines carry the water from all other fixtures.

Not studying FOR 4.0, but just using the questions as additional practice for 3.1.  I test this Wednesday.

Is a bidet NOT considered to produce "black water" (or water which would receive the same treatment as a toilet/water closet?)

I tend to refer to Toilets/Water Closets/Urinals/and Bidets...all as those which would all connect to the same sanitary(soil) stack...and treated much more thoroughly than the (grey water) which has much less treatment.....like Utility Sinks and Lavs...

Can somebody confirm this? Just sounds.....unsanitary.

thank you.....
this question is as odd as the ARE deal.  Bidet is considered to be soil line.....
If they really throw me that question, I'll have a long talk with those stups after the exam.

Technically, a bidet only cleans... think of it as a tiny water fountain. It is treated the same as a shower, so there should be no waste going down the drain. It still only produces grey water.

Make since?

I could follow that Logic.....sure. And to reinforce that Logic Wikipedia describes a bidet as being used for the following:

"Bidets are primarily used to wash and clean the genitalia, inner buttocks, and anus"

Thus, one would appropriately have the impression that the result of using a bidet would contribute a higher percentage of "black water" than bathing or grey.... (perhaps depending on their hygiene).....

But, according to Wikipedia "Greywater is distinct from blackwater in the amount and composition of its chemical and biological contaminants (from feces or toxic chemicals)."

So either way, the point is arguably disputable, given the unknown of what "amount" is the actual threshold to go from grey to blackwater....

Sneaky ARE's....
