I've heard about this term,
I searched and I found the meaning of it.
But I am not sure what does it have to do with this exam someone had reported seeing this term in the exam.
My guess is it applies to the electrical/mech'l generators and motors when it's on a break point during the day to conserve the peak hours use of electricity. I could have sworn I read about it somewhere in my huge stack of study stuff, but can't seem to remember where I read about it and can seem to find that source anywhere around me now. Can someone confirm on this please. Thanks.

I never came across that term in my studies. Your definition seems logical though. A search of the forum came up empty, other than this post. I'd recommend spending more time on the bigger fish of this exam. This sounds like a WTF question if there ever was one.

cuz I swear I picked it up from here, this forum. They were talking about it. And all of a sudden, I too couldn't find anything else in this forum thru search key. They took the term out, completely. That is whacky.

A conspiracy on siesta? I think someone needs a study break. But I reserve the right to throw mud in my face when I am finally allowed to take this exam.

I actually read it yesterday and I thought it rather odd when I did. It was in MEEB. As I'm sure you all know a siesta is an afternoon nap. If I remember correctly it was an analogy regarding the comfort zone i.e. while the temperature in the room might be slightly above the comfort zone it was comfortable enough for a siesta...meaning a very sedimentary activity.
I'm at work and I did not drag my MEEB anchor with me...I will look it up later and report back.
My opinion its something I wouldn't fret about and if these are the terms you are down to you are either way too prepared for the exam or studying the wrong stuff .
And from your other posts I would bet you are ready.

assume that you are refering to me, I hardly feel secure with this exam at all. I just can't afford to fail this exam cuz it's my last. Out of 9 exams, this is the only exam that I give it 2.5months to study. The others were 1.5months max. Thanks for your inputs on the term.

I hope you didn't take offense...I was just trying to give you a little ribbing...I have three to go (and waiting on results of another) I wish I was in your shoes. As for my earlier reply about siesta. I'm going to have to recant my answer I looked in vain last night for where I thought I read it and couldn't find it. Sorry .

Well,
This may be of little value but I finally found the MEEB section that I saw the reference to "siesta".
Its in the first paragraph of section 9.1 of MEEB, 10th ed.
It's not that enlightening IMO.
I thought I was going crazy there for awhile ...!

Wait wait, I found it. I think its what happens to the construction crew after lunch.
"A siesta is a short nap taken in the early afternoon, often after the midday meal. Such a period of sleep is a common tradition in some countries, particularly those where the weather is warm."
I am glad I could finally get this resolved.

Yes, after late lunch 1:00-2:00 pm, you get slow (the body-machine) and a "siesta" or "power nap" gives you energy for the afternoon-early night time!!!!
Good luck in your test!!!
