Then which case we use warm stale air from return duct to save energy?

you use warm stale air at heat exchangers. See page 329, fig 6.32. and page 417 fig. 7.29. they are self explanatory.
When you have combustion air like from the boiler, you can use it to pre heat hydro loops before they get to be heated by the boiler for building heating. That's how you save energy.
