Near as I can tell, it's only with C.olorado they do that - for example, I type "***" correctly and you get "***".  But I too, don't know why (for me, I wonderered why they'd do the period or something else in C.olorado until I did it and discovered the ***).

For the (AT) - that's an internet security thing because spammers can pull your email address off a website (or so I think).
