I found that the 2 books have a list of R-values for different materials, but they both differ in the R-values.

i.e. BATT or BLANKET, Kaplan = R 11.00, ALLEN = 3.3 (BIG DIFFERENCE)

Loose fill = Kaplan R 3.90, ALLEN R 3.5

Kaplan edition is 2007 and Allen is the old one 2nd. edition 1990.

My question is, which list should I use. I saw on the redrover list that we must know R-values for different materilas. Is there any other list that I could use? I did not see anything in Ballast.

Thanks for your help!!!

Well, now I'm studying Ching's BCI, and there is a new list with different R-values......which is just the same that was posted on the redrover list.

I guess I will try to learn the R-Values from Ching. Any other idea?

Anybody outhere?:) thanks anyway!

Maybe take a look the the insulation companies and see what it is in the real world.  Owens Corning is a good site to start.  I use there site all the time when doing drawings.

3 1/2" of batt fiber glass insulation will generally be rated at R11.
