just got back from my CD's test today-

I must have been lucky... no novel questions!  man- i was getting sick of reading 3 paragraphs per question in all the practice tests!

The test was really straight forward.  Let me preface this by saying, I studied by reading Kaplan- taking the practice tests in the book- reading A201 and B141 (without commentary)- taking practice test in kaplan book, read the commentary on A201 and B141- read actual portions of the contract during that as well- to clarify, read actual language, etc... in the midst of all of this- took some of the ALS computer tests- until the questions just became too repetative.

Test was probably 80-85% from that material.  I'd say another 10% from derivatives/situations associated with that material- and the balance, a bit of everything.  There were only a handful of "WTF is this doing on this test" - 1 ramp question, a couple code related ones, and some other randoms... Most of these i already either knew, or could figure out with just some basic common knowledge.

I know i got a couple wrong- and might have messed up on a couple- but overall- feeling good, and was one of the more straight forward multiple choice tests in the ARE, at least for me.  (took PD and ME as well)  we'll find out for sure in 3 to 4 weeks... :)

You took 3.1, not 4.0, correct? Just want to make sure. I took 4.0, it was not straight forward at all. Good luck to you.

my exam was similar to that described above. i took my exam 2.5 weeks ago, and havent heard as to whether i passed or not. i like you am cautiously optomistic, but wont know untill the letter comes in the mail. guess i will just have to keep my fingers crossed.

good luck on upcoming exams!

I just took mine today 9/18

Very similar to what nibbs described. However, I found the questions to be tricky in the wording. I decided before the exam to mark everything I wasn't absolutely sure about, so be able to quantify where I stood.

Be familiar with ramp design and with what "commissioning" means.

When I finished with everything, I had 34 out of the 115 questions marked. I had studied Kaplan, practice exams, flash cards, actual contracts B141, A201 etc. And, I still had 34 questionable answers! I am hoping that I made educated guesses on at least 30 percent of those. This would put me in the roughly 80% correct category...

I know that percentages alone don't mean anything on these tests! It's only a rough asessment for my own benefit. I will let you know how I did when I get my results.

Good luck everyone!

-actually, now, 7more2go (with any luck!  :))

as with every ARE exam... there are ALWAYS some cross over... from my understanding, CD's and MM are referenced with each other a bit more than other exams... about to start studying for the MM after i take SD on monday...

it was suggested to me take CD's and MM back to back (although i threw in a graphic as a little 2 week break...)- because of that cross over... same kind of thing with GS and LF.

there isn't enough cross over to make you fail an exam- you either know the material or not, and if you do know it, you can figure out (most of) the other questions.

graphic standards should be all you need to look at for the ramp design...

I just took the test today (9/22) and I definitely should have paid more attention to the ramps. I had at least 5 questions on that I while I skimmed information I didn't really take in the information. Hopefully it won't cost me!

Otherwise I thought that most of the questions were pretty straight forward. Lots of references to A201 and B141, lots of bidding questions, but generally I thought it was ok. There was one random questions about electrical drawings that I was like WTF on and a couple questions were very particular about the wording of the contract (like if someone has a 'duty' to do something versuses just authorization.
I marked a bunch of questions and went back over them but after readying them over I think I made mostly correct answers...I hope.
