I have CDS scheduled in a week too, and until the other day, I was getting very low scores on practice tests too. Also thought about postponing and moving to a topic I know better.
But, I have really taken advice from here and studied & read and read some more, and asked questions and went today to an office where I could read through a Project Manual and I really READ it. Read the specs, read the contracts, etc. then returned and tried reading the Kaplan and the Ballast again and getting better with the quizzes. Hard to say, but I think it's working. I'd thought about posting a similar question but did not.
So maybe give it another day or 2. And really READ the contracts. It's not easy at all for those of us who didn't have specific training in CA. At least that is my impression from anyone here who claims to find this exam straightforward.
Try every format you can lay hands on: the AIA videos, the O'Leary articles (I found them helpful,) flashcards...whatever.
Honestly, I am so glad I did not go to law school, because studying contracts is not my thing.
Anyway, my 2 cents. good luck.

I think reading about them is sort of like trying to learn how food tastes by reading menus. But if you start with the Kaplan etc. and then go through a project manual or a set of bid documents (see, i still don't know if one belongs with the other!) it places things in context.
Did you try those O'Leary articles?

This one he talks about how to distinguish between contract and non-contract docs. And there are a couple on bidding. I find them good for context.
Are you testing on Tuesday? That's when I'm going in. I'll root for you. In the meantime, maybe we can sort out some of these questions. I've been too sheepish to post any of my questions yet!

| The bidding docs would be part of the project manual. I'll look at the site now and see, it sounds good. I'm reading through the A701 document now on bidding. Throw out some questions and I will do the same, we can figure them out. I have my exam the last week in September, on a Sunday.
