has anyone tried to protest one the exams.   I can't believe i failed another exam, i studied very hard and do this work in my office.  I can i fail the whole exam, out of 115 questions there is no way i could have failed every question.

I want to protest this last exam. Has anyone tried and won?

Sorry to hear about your letter!

I have never tried to protest a result, but I've heard that it can be a long process and success rates at protesting results are low.  Honestly, it's probably quicker and easier to retest after 6 months.

If you're serious about considering a protest, you should know that even if you are successful, the result may not be recognized as a "pass" for purposes of gaining reciprocity for licenses in other states...

I believe we should start a campaign for an extension of the ARE 3 series. Due to the current economy, firms are firing IDP candidates. My firm is struggling under the current pressure, we are working & marketing for jobs non-stop. Study time is not going to happen. It is very damned-if-you -do damned if you don't. Study now, and lose your job--Don't study now, and delay licensure. This deadline, as the world falls around us is crazy. Campaign with letters to NCARB!

There a quite a few threads on the forum relating to challenging exam results.

Generally, they appear to have been unsuccessful or abandoned.

You may wish to search the forum architves.

Be aware that many states and NCARB do not allow a challenge.

NCARB does allow a challenge of a multiple choice exam if your state allows it. Directions are on page 29 of the ARE 3.1 Guidelines, and on page 20 of the 4.0 Guidelines.
There's a base fee of $300, plus $75 per question challenged.

According to NCARB's rules it takes 6 months to get results of a challenge , though those who have tried it have reported an even longer timeframe.
(If you're racing the clock on finishing 3.1 then you might not want to start a challenge process.)

On a multiple choice challenge you get to see the questions that you got wrong for some period of time (anecdotally reported as 30 to 45 minutes). You aren't told which answer you chose, or which answer is correct.

Since it's more expensive than retaking, and takes as long as retaking, there are few who decide to go through with it.

If NCARB changes your Fail to a Pass on an MC exam then NCARB will recognize that Pass.
NCARB does not allow a challenge of a graphic division, but a few states do. (On 4.0 you can challenge MC content on any division with NCARB if your state allows it, but NCARB won't consider a challenge to a vignette.)
If you're successful in getting your state board to change a result to a Pass on a graphic exam or vignette NCARB won't recognize that as a Pass, so you'll have to retake anyway if you ever need to seek reciprocity in a state that requires an NCARB record of passing the exam or apply for NCARB certification.

There have been a few here who have decided to go forward with a challenge, but nobody's ever come back and reported being successful in having a result changed.
