Default Question about CMP

I am a LEED AP without specialty. I am planning to opt in with option 2 which is to go through the prescriptive ....

1. When can I start using new designation / logo?
2. If I do courses on https://www.usgbc.org/coursecatalog/coursecatalog.aspx, will that gain me requirement of 30 hours?

Appreciated.

I know this is probably what you are reading but just wanted to post the link. Found another link on the GBCI website describing the options but it had broken links to answers.

I would imagine as soon as you opt in, your logos and new title will be available at your 'my credentials' page on GBCI.

You then have 2 years to complete the prescribed training. The page you show is one source for training, but make sure you are filtering the results by the subject areas you have to fill for your prescriptive topics. There are other methods to get hours too which are described (poorly) in the official CMP guides. If you are newly accredited, you also have to rack up 6 hours of 'LEED Specific' training, although I find it a little unclear for the opt-inners if this is required or not. If it is, be warned that there is less LEED Specific training available than manufacturers' general sustainable products/practices lunch n learn type webinars. Certainly there is not as much free training available. Hopefully this changes over the next year or so.

Yes. It is correct.

Gang, I take it then that those opting in are required to comply with all requirements of BOTH the standard CMP guide AND the enrollment guide from this site? http://www.gbci.org/cmp/guides.aspx

Wow, gets complicated!

Yes. The first 2 years may be harder since you have all these detailed prescription CMP categories to deal with: 6 LEED specific hours plus other hours per category as described. I think for the first 2 years, if you deal with the prescription CMP, it also meets the standard CMP.

I am focusing on dealing with the detailed prescription CMP categories now.

After the first 2 years, it should be much easier since it is only the standard CMP that you are dealing with. I remember reading it somewhere (maybe in Linkedin) that the CMP hours are easier to meet after the first 2 years because you do not have to break it down to so many detailed categories.

It is pretty time consuming to report hours per all these detailed categories. Sometimes you have an activity that includes several categories, and you have to report it multiple times.

I like the AIA CE report much better: it is simple and straight forward, and you cab report 8, 10 or 50 CE hours on one form instead of 50 forms or 50 times.
