Default VRV Energy Modeling?

Posted this in LEED too - but thought maybe someone here would have some insider knowledge. I need to find a software that can accurately model a VRV HVAC system. After literally hours of web searches and phone calls, I am still at 0.

Anyone found an energy software (that's acceptable for LEED modeling) that can simulate a VRV? HELP?

I always have used a LEED Consultant to do that kind of work. Sorry. You may want to call up some of those firms and see if they would give you a name of the program.

Beside running my arch. practice I also teach Energy Performance in bldgs. and I use for my classes to teach my students: EnergyPlus (EP-Quick will allow you to create an IDF file that you can load on EnergyPlus, also there is OpenStudio plug-in that works under SketchUp, and also Demeter plug-in), eQUEST, ESP-r, etc.

here are the web links:

eQUEST:

Demeter plug-in for SketchUp:

OpenStudio plug-in for SketchUp:

WINDOW and THERM software:

ESP-r:

for a more comprehensive list of energy analysis software go here:

other programs:

DIALux (light planning software)

Thanks for all the links . . . I will look into those. Iwas wondering about the Sketchup Plug Ins - I just saw those for the first time recently.

In the meantime I spoke with our rep for the VRV system and he said there is no program currently that will model VRV accurately! The numbers come out way underestimating the capability of the system.

I'm amazed by this - since these systems have been in use for years in Europe. Our reps said the company is working directly with e-Quest to alter the modeling for VRV to come up with more accurate projections.

Wish I had called them before I spent hours researching it on my own.
