Default LEED GA and BD&C

Hello all.. I'm new here and kind of overwhelmed with all the topics so I figured a new thread would be beneficial to me.

I'm currently working on a construction project on a military base and we have to be LEEDs Silver certified. I'm the one putting the book together. In the last couple of months I've been attempting to prep for all the LEEDs tests. I've been told I can do both the GA and the BD&C all in one day. I'm also taking a course through Red Vector that is teaming with the University of Tennessee to help prep, but I'm afraid I might need more prep.

Are there any great study guides out there or any free practice exams to help prep?

Does anyone here have a great study guide they wouldn't mind sharing?
Also, what can I expect to see on these exams?

gdunn,

You can sit for both exams simultaneously on the same day.

First lesson: It is LEED not LEEDs.

Send me a pm with your email address and I will forward my GA study guide, 101 GA Q&A, as well as the BD+C Credit Summary Charts - I don't know that they are great but they are, currently, free to ARE forum members.

Thanks. I can save some of these Red Vector Courses as PDFs if anyone is interested in the information they have.

Most of the lessons deal with the thought process and philosophy of design.

It will cost $50 more to do both exams separately but I would personally recommend most people do it that way. If you sit both you will be doing a 4 hour exam, that's a long time to concentrate on two rather different bodies of knowledge, and with the more difficult stuff tested second. Just a thought.

I agree, 4 hours can be a tedious experience with personal resources running low when you need them most.

Also, if you take the GA by itself and pass, you walk out with the GA accreditation (after a bit of USGBC red tape). However, if you take both at the same time and pass the GA, but fail the specialty, you walk out with nothing other than the satisfaction you don't have to retake the part you passed.
